On 25th October was hit by a shell explosion. Below his Citation 25th October 1916

“Officier d’une remarquable énergie et d’une grande bravoure, payant de sa personne sans réserve, ayant fait preuve en toutes circonstances des plus beaux sentiments de patriotisme et possédant une haute conception du devoir. Est tombé mortellement frappé à côté de son chef de corps, le 25 octobre 1916, en criant ” Vive la France ! “

Died 26th October 1916 at 35 year old, in an ambulance from his wounds from 25th October.

The explosion on the 25th October also killed the Chef de Corps Col Devaux
